Sustainability at Älgbergets

Welcome to Älgbergets B&B – where caring for nature is a natural part of your stay!

At Älgbergets B&B, nature is not just our surroundings – it is our home, our workplace, and something we cherish every day. That is why we are proud to be part of Hållbarhetsklivet, an initiative to create a more sustainable and responsible tourism industry in western Sweden.

For us, sustainability is about making conscious choices, taking responsibility for our environment, and contributing to a stronger local community. Below you can read about some of the measures we are working on to reduce our impact while giving our guests a better, more genuine, and nature-friendly experience.

Our contributions to sustainability

  • Solar panels for hot water – we use solar energy to heat our tap water.
  • Wood chips from our own forest – the facility is heated by wood chips we produce ourselves, creating a circular and climate-friendly heating system.
  • Electric motor in the rental boat – for quieter trips on the lake and less environmental impact.
  • Careful waste sorting – all waste is sorted at our own station to reduce the amount that goes to incineration.
  • Option to bring your own bed linen and towels – this helps us reduce water and energy consumption when washing. (Of course, these are available to rent for those who wish.)
  • Large refill bottles instead of disposable packaging – a simple way to reduce unnecessary plastic waste.
  • We hire locally – creating jobs close to us strengthens the community and provides more sustainable commutes.
  • Focus on reuse – most of our furnishings are purchased second-hand, because we believe in giving things new life.
  • Local craftsmen and contractors – we use local companies for renovations and other work.
  • Energy-efficient work throughout the business – small and large measures that together reduce our energy consumption.
